Read this and understand why I keep bringing up the issue of a possible FLOOD in Segamat.

He's the Man!

Datuk Tajuddin Abdul Rahman had made it to the Parliament headlines again. This time, he used the word "biol" and apologized his usage with:

"OK la, the good, smart... and interesting YB Gombak (Azmin Ali).
I withdraw the word, biol"

What an interesting lad! And the best part is... he was never kicked out of the Dewan Rakyat! What may be the reason then?

Popped My Eyes Out

I stumbled upon this while reading my afterwork internet news just now:

China’s stimulus plan will help M’sia avoid recession: DPM
-PUTRAJAYA: The announcement by China of its US$586bil fiscal stimulus plan is a positive move and will help Malaysia avoid a recession...

I cannot help but to have this thought; "Is China that freaking rich?!"

Petrol Fear

According to Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Minister Datuk Shahrir Samad, under the Supply Control Act 1961 a fine of up to RM100 000 can be imposed on petrol kiosk owners that do not have sufficient petrol supply for consumers.

Will this be sufficient to revoke the fear upon the upcoming fuel price drop (mid-November)?

RPK is Freed!

Raja Petra is freed today!

This is my first post after a long hiatus from writing here. I might as well explain the law regarding to this matter. As we all know, detention under the ISA is without trial in court. It is unreviewable in that way. However, a file for habeas corpus is an application for release from unlawful detention; not a court proceeding. Therefore, the bad procedure in detaining Raja Petra Kamarudin had gave way (a loophole) for the file for habeas corpus to go through and it is upheld by the Shah Alam High Court.

Datuk Syed Ahmad Helmy Syed Ahmad J said the grounds for his detention by Home Minister Syed Hamid under Section 8 of the ISA did not come within the scope of being "a threat to national security". The detention is considered unlawful and unconstitutional. Therefore, he is now a free man!

Hindraf = Banned!

Home Minister Syed Hamid had declared Hindraf as an illegal organisation based on the results of the investigation into the activities of Hindraf which had been contrary to Societies Act 1966. Currently the police force will determine the charges to be brought in the court.

So Long~

It is official, the current Prime Minister will not be defending his seat as the President of UMNO for the party elections in March of next year. The statement was made during the Barisan Nasional Supreme Council meeting in the afternoon. This is one of the steps taken for the transition of power into the hands of our current Deputy Prime Minister.

Crucial Moments

The recent uproar in Thailand had inevitably caused me to think:

"Will that happen to Malaysia... somehow, someday?"

Political instability have been reducing the participation of foreign investors into our country. And now with the added worries created by the recent tumbling share market, even are local market is losing confidence.
Is it really impossible for the citizens to move in line with the government's plans to revive the economy irregardless of which party is currently running the government? It's our country afterall. Economy or politics now? Make a wise choice.

Gas Talk

What solutions are there that need to be ascertained to curb the problems of fuel shortage whenever the price falls?

My suggestions:

  • state laws that go all the way out to fix a certain quota for fuel reserves at local petrol stations
  • enact statutes to curb oligopoly market powers
  • release early fuel drop notices to the petrol kiosks' operators before to the public
  • make haste for alternatives like hybrids and NGVs to create competition for petrol fuel
  • not to fluctuate the fuel prices too often. The prices can be controlled afterall

Pinball Game

I really have a hard time putting words into this blog. People seemed to be influenced by what I write and think of politics too much. It's not my original intention. I'm so sorry if I ever make any of you to think like that.

Anyways, I'm thinking about the portfolios swap done by our PM and his deputy last week. It was absurd right? How can you belittle yourself to that extend? I think Abdullah Badawi was affected by his UMNO's Vice President, Muyiddin's comment that he should step down before 2010. Come on... you're a Prime Minister; not some pinball being pushed around!
